Janette Laws

Jan is a qualified Humanistic, Person Centred Counsellor and a registered member of the British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP). Jan is trained to work with adults, and offers face to face, online or telephone sessions, short term, or long term in duration. Alongside her private practice, Jan volunteers for a charitable Counselling service. Jan previously worked with several Local Authorities in Social Care for 10 years and prior to this worked in several settings with children and families for almost 25 years.

A Person Centred approach is centred around the belief that everyone is the expert in their own unique situation and has within them the ability to understand themselves on a deeper level and affect change from within. Jan offers a safe, non-judgemental space to explore issues which may be painful, confusing, or uncomfortable to talk about. Jan supports clients to understand more fully their own needs and to find solutions which are right for them. Being truly heard and having someone who is able to understand one’s lived experience can take away feelings of being overwhelmed and isolated with worries and fears and helps begin the process of gaining clarity and an awareness of inner strengths and resources.

Jan works with clients that are age 18+
